High School: Jackson High School in Massillon, OH 4.1 GPA (34 of 556) Student-Athlete (Lacrosse) National Forensics League (Duo Interp) During my time in high school I was a member of the lacrosse team, where I was a co-captain my senior year. I also participated in Speech and Debate, where I was a two time state (OH) quarter finalist. I completed 3 AP courses and received the following grades: AP Chemistry - 5 AP Calc AB - 5 AP US Government - 3 I also received a score of 30 on my ACT. I scored a 36 on the Math portion and a 35 in the Science section. College: St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA 3.1 GPA / B.S. in Chemistry Student-Athlete (Lacrosse) My course and lab work throughout school involved extensive exposure to analytical methods/techniques and instrumentation. In order to graduate, I had to complete a senior research thesis. My research received an award as a "Presentation of Distinction" and has been revisited multiple times by other students since my graduation.
Experience
I have tutored on and off since my freshman year at St. Vincent College. I began tutoring my teammates, helping them pass their general mathematics and chemistry classes. Since then, I have mainly tutored high school students in mathematics and chemistry. I have always found tutoring rewarding as it allows me to help someone else realize their potential. There is a reward each time a student "gets it" and you see the light in their eyes. I am also extremely patient and understand that some people take to things easier than others. I do not believe that there is one, specific, way to teach. I try to incorporate visual aids, lecture, as well as hands on practice into any lesson or subject in order to ensure I've exhausted all avenues to attain understanding.
