I worked at Eastern Kentucky University as a FT staff member for six years before moving to a new city. Working on campus provided me with endless opportunities to tutor students who struggled with writing and reading comprehension. I've decided to join University Tutor because I no longer work in an academic environment where tutoring opportunities are so much in abundance. I grew up in a family of teachers--mother, grandmother, sister, aunts, etc. Teaching is something that comes naturally to me and helping students overcome challenges in their pursuit of knowledge is something I find extremely rewarding. I believe every student has great potential to learn how to learn. In most cases, it is a lack of confidence that creates a student's greatest barrier to success. My goal as a tutor is to introduce each student to their own capacity for success and to inspire them to reach their own goals. I am available for online tutoring when appropriate. My schedule for face-to-face tutoring is flexible and I'll be happy to discuss it with potential students/parents on an individual basis.
